Manila's 12th City Council holds productive regular session
Manila - The 12th City Council convened for its 81st regular session at the government building, tackling crucial matters that contribute to the city's progress. Among the agenda discussed during the second reading was D.O. No. 8442, which pertains to the Land for the Landless Program covering specific lands in Sampaloc, Manila. The proposed program garnered immediate support from fellow councilors, particularly Councilor Doc Louie Chua of the 4th District.
Under the guidance of Assistant Majority Floor Leader Councilor Joel "JTV" Villanueva, various ordinances and resolutions concerning topics encompassed by the Ways and Means, Appropriations, and Barangay Affairs were submitted to their respective committees for further review and deliberation.
In a notable development, the Barangay 421 Women Waste Warriors was accredited as a People's Organization, and the Manila City Alert Response Team Inc. was recognized as a Non-Government Organization. Councilor Ricardo "Boy" Isip Jr. spearheaded the accreditation process, highlighting the valuable contributions of these organizations to the community.
Furthermore, the City Council approved the budgets of several barangays within the six districts of Manila. The councilors were joined by the barangay captains who proudly posed for photos, symbolizing their unity and shared commitment to serve the residents.
Amidst the session, the City Council extended congratulations to Feliz Victoria Garrido Cañezal, a student from Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila, for achieving the fourth-highest overall grade in the recent Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination. Councilor Caloy Castañeda commended Feliz's outstanding accomplishment, showcasing the city's dedication to nurturing young talents.
As the session drew to a close, distinguished guests and delegates from Guangzhou, China, graced the occasion and formally extended their greetings. They witnessed the signing of the Twinning City Agreement between the two cities, solidifying their mutual cooperation and friendship.
The 12th City Council's regular session XII-55 exemplified the commitment of its members to address significant programs, collaborations, and achievements for the betterment of Manila and its residents. With each agenda discussed and decision made, the councilors demonstrated their unwavering dedication to serve the city and contribute to its continued progress and development.
