Makati police seeking to identify Customs employees' attackers
Makati City Police said closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages in the attack that injured two Bureau of Customs (BOC) employees did not clearly show the identity of the four attackers.
On Friday, siblings Maricon Manalo, 56, officer-in-charge of the BOC Formal Entry Division, and Marietta Lasaca, 60, principal appraiser of the BOC Formal Entry Division, were injured after they were attacked by four gunmen while they were aboard a car inside a gated subdivision in Barangay Magallanes, Makati City around 9 p.m. Both said that they are residents of Paranaque City.
Seated at the back of the car was Cherlene Salazar, an encoder of BOC, of Pateros. She was left unhurt.
“We were able to obtain many CCTV footages from the exclusive subdivision but the faces of the armed men are very blurred. We were not also able to get the plate number of their car,” Makati Police Investigation Unit chief Maj. Gideon Ines Jr. said Monday.
Cops were told by residents in the posh village that Manalo owns a house there. But the son of Manalo clarified that they were just renting a house in the subdivision, Ines said.
The injured siblings, according to Ines, are still staying at the Makati Medical Hospital.
Manalo was hit in the right finger while Lasaca got hit in the back, probers said.
“At 6 p.m. today, we will go to Makati Medical Center to get their statements as they are still confined there,” the Investigation Unit chief said.
The family of the victims told cops that they did not receive any death threat, adding that they also do not have any known enemy.
Seized from the crime scene were 25 spent shells of various firearms.
