Mayor Abby distributes wellness kits to frontliners
On the orders of Makati Mayor Abby Binay, the city government of Makati on Wednesday began the distribution of individually-packed wellness kits to some 2,536 medical frontliners in the city.
Each wellness kit contains grocery items, a juice box with a reusable tumbler, one dozen original glazed flavored donuts, and a food voucher worth 500 pesos.
“Through these wellness kits, we aim to send a message of thanks to our medical frontliners. We want to show them that we care and we treasure them. We gratefully attribute to their tireless efforts and contributions the effectiveness of our COVID-19 response,” Mayor Abby said.
The target recipients of the wellness kits are the health workers and frontliners from the Makati Health Department (MHD), Ospital ng Makati (OsMak), and Incident Command Post (ICP).
The initial distribution of the kits was spearheaded by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) during a turnover ceremony at the City Hall Quadrangle last December 16.
Mayor Abby said that the city scheduled an exclusive distribution of the wellness kits per department, in consideration of the safety and convenience of the frontliners.
Since the pandemic broke out in March, the city government has provided substantial and strategic support for the city’s essential workers.
Besides providing adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard pay, free shuttle services, vitamins, free flu and pneumonia vaccination, and free mass testing for the health workers, the city approved the increase of salary for nurses and the additional hiring of health workers in Makati.
