Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay said fully vaccinated senior citizens in Makati City will receive P1,000 worth of gift certificates from the city government, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

The local government of Makati City seeks to entice senior citizens in the city to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“1K GC sa fully vaccinated. #ProudMakatizen seniors!” she posted on Twitter on Tuesday night (June 30).

“Ang bakuna ang unang hakbang [upang] mag-back to normal. Dahil sa inyong pagpabakuna, kayo ay nakatulong sa pagbalik sa dati…back to being free na makita muli ang ating mga ngiti (Getting vaccinated is the first step to return to normal. Because of your vaccination, you have helped us to return to what was before… back to being free to see our smiles again),” the mayor added.

Binay said the details on how to get the gift certificates will be announced soon by the local government.

Makati City has a total of 10 vaccination sites in order to quickly roll out COVID-19 vaccines.

During a radio interview on Tuesday (June 29), Binay said that Makati City has so far vaccinated 36,000 senior citizens.

She said that they are targeting to inoculate 50,000 senior citizens in the city.
