Various groups endorse Makati Mayor Binay, Team Performance
Several organized groups representing different sectors in Makati have come forward to endorse Mayor Abby Binay and her entire Team Performance slate, declaring their full support in the upcoming elections.
The groups include Tropang Makati, which consists of former supporters of Kid Peña who are now backing the mayor and the candidacy of her father, former vice president Jejomar Binay, for congressional representative of the city’s first district.
Other endorsers of Team Performance include 100 percent of the JODA membership of the United Transportation Federation of Makati and 62 out of 65 TODA members of the Makati Tricycle Federation from the public transport sector, and vendors associations, homeowners associations, the LGBT community, senior citizens councils, and women’s groups.
The mayor said she was grateful for the endorsement of the different sectors, thanking them for putting their faith in her leadership.
I am deeply gratified by the overwhelming expression of support from these organizations that represent major sectors in our community. I am thankful that they have come to appreciate the vigorous efforts of my administration to promote their best interest,” Binay said.
“On behalf of the whole Team Performance, I convey our heartfelt gratitude to all the organized groups that have chosen to join us in our mission of completing the transformation of Makati into a smart city,” she added.
UTFM president Nerio Duka said the mayor earned the support of majority of the public transport sector in the city because of the many initiatives the city government had undertaken that demonstrated its genuine concern for their welfare.
Through initiatives like regular meetings with city officials, free seminars and trainings, city-sponsored events and activities, the city government showed them that they mattered, Duka said.
Leaders from the vendors’ sector also shared positive gains they had experienced under the administration of Mayor Abby.
Efren Nadado, president of the Makati Talipapa and Vendors Group (MTVG) in District 1, thanked the present administration for making it possible for them to sell in a spacious, clean, and presentable area through proper guidance and discipline.
