Mayor Binay leads pre-election surveys
With only a few days left before the May 13 midterm elections, independent surveys showed Makati Mayor Abby Binay leading consistently by a wide margin against other mayoral candidates.
In the latest non-commissioned survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. from May 4 to May 8, Binay garnered 60 percentage points compared to her closest rival, her brother Junjun, who got 37 percentage points.
In an earlier survey commissioned by a private company and conducted from March 29 to 31, Binay received 68 percent of the votes. At the district level, she got 56 percent in District 1 and 77 percent in District 2.
The strong lead consistently enjoyed by the mayor in all pre-election surveys has been reinforced by the endorsement of the block-voting Iglesia Ni Cristo of her candidacy and that of majority of her Team Performance slate.
The INC also endorsed the bid of her father, former vice president Jejomar Binay, for the Makati first district seat at the House of Representatives, and that of Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo and second district Rep. Luigi Campos.
Also endorsed were six candidates for Councilor in each district.
Several organized groups representing various sectors in Makati have also come forward to endorse Binay and her entire Team Performance slate.
